Experience

Restrained reminders, revealed by you

01

Location-based reminders

Near a candidate risk location, a reminder appears in a corner of the screen stating exactly what would be lost. It never steals focus, clicks pass through to the game, and it hides itself after 10 seconds.

02

Expand on demand, spoiler-light

The initial reminder only states what would be lost. Four progressive hint levels unfold one step at a time, only when you press a key or click. If you do nothing, the reminder simply hides itself. The detail window has no countdown — close it when you are done and return to the game.

03

Optional hidden-area hints (off by default)

Discovery hints for 6 revisit-able hidden areas. They must be enabled in settings, and appear only after about 3 seconds of cumulative movement inside a candidate area. These areas can be revisited — the hints never claim they will be permanently missed.

  • Cannot yet tell whether content is already completed — completed content may trigger reminders again

Configured rules and validated rules are reported separately; this page is reconciled with the repository's validation records after every release.

▦Mirror downloads and a Nexus Mods page will appear once they are actually available; every source ships the same version and SHA256 as the GitHub release — never a dev build.

▤On mobile: the program runs on Windows PC. Copy the download link and open it on your computer.

First-time setup may download B1CSharpLoader online and request one Windows admin approval — you should know this before downloading.
  1. 1

While the game is not running, open RegretPill and click Start protection

Opening the EXE alone does not enable protection; pick the game folder manually if it is not found

  2. 2

Wait for first-time setup until it shows Ready

One-time only; later sessions just need one click before playing

  3. 3

Launch the game yourself from Steam and confirm live reading OK

Reminders stop automatically when the game exits; click Restart before the next session

ⓘ The install guide and FAQ cover daily usage, sharing the loader with other mods, stop/uninstall behavior after the game exits, and the reminder settings, history and diagnostics entries. Full guide in the project README.

FAQ

Before you download

No. Rules only read-sample chapter, map, coordinates and available quest state — nothing is written to your saves. First-time setup backs up an existing b1cs.ini, then sets Console=0 and EnableJit=0 to hide the loader console and keep the locally verified trainer-compatible setting; this change affects other mods sharing the same loader.
First-time setup writes into the protected game directory (preparing the B1CSharpLoader dependency and the mod files), which may trigger one admin prompt. It grants modify rights only to the RegretPill mod subfolder for the current user, so later launches don't need elevation again.
Only first-time setup may go online to download B1CSharpLoader. Dependencies stay in the game directory afterwards — each later session just needs opening the EXE and clicking Start protection, offline and with no reinstallation.
RegretPill does not use Harmony hooks. B1CSharpLoader with EnableJit=1 can break some trainers (including FLiNG), so first-time setup backs up the config and sets EnableJit=0; after a full game restart on the test machine, the trainer was confirmed working again while RegretPill still showed "live reading OK". Steam Input or other mapping tools may interfere with controller detection.
Reminders stop automatically when the game exits; Cancel standby / Stop protection revokes the session immediately; "Quit RegretPill" in the tray ends the app. If you quit while the game is still running, a cleanup process deletes this session's mod DLL after the game exits. The B1CSharpLoader dependency stays in the game directory — launching from Steam alone may load the loader, but the mod won't run any reminders. Settings and reminder history live in %LOCALAPPDATA%\WukongGuard; delete that folder to remove local data.
It may. Current rules match on chapter, map and coordinates, and cannot reliably tell whether the content is already completed in this playthrough — which is why reminders use conditional wording ("if not yet defeated…"). Players who have finished the content may still see a reminder at the risk location. Completion suppression will only be enabled after validation against actual per-playthrough fields or event diffs.
Open an issue on GitHub Issues with your playthrough, trigger location and what the reminder said. Diagnostics can be exported from the game's Diagnostics page (including guard.log and overlay.log); the page can also fire a test reminder to safely try the keys — a test reminder does not mean real content is nearby. If nothing pops up, check the launcher home connection state first; "rules loaded" alone does not mean a rule passed validation.
