The King of Flowing Sands & Second Prince boss fight early in Chapter 2 is mandatory — everyone fights it. What almost nobody tells you: the kill order decides whether you earn the Second Prince's spirit. Get it wrong and the game never warns you.
The rule: King first, prince second
- Correct order: kill the King of Flowing Sands → the Second Prince goes berserk → kill the enraged prince → you earn his spirit plus the Pungent Flesh Chunk quest item;
- Wrong order: kill the Second Prince first → the King flees the arena → the spirit is permanently missed this playthrough.
The King is weak and spends the fight throwing rocks from atop a pillar; the prince does the real fighting. The whole trick is: resist the urge to burst the prince down.
Recommended strategy
- Don't commit damage to the prince at the start — bait his attacks into smashing the King's pillar;
- Once the pillar collapses, Immobilize the prince;
- Unload on the King during the freeze and finish him;
- The prince turns berserk — same moveset, more aggression. Stay patient and dodge;
- Kill the enraged prince to receive the Pungent Flesh Chunk and his spirit.
Keep the Flesh Chunk — it keys the secret area
The Pungent Flesh Chunk triggers the hidden First Prince of the Flowing Sands fight:
- If you killed the King in the duo fight, the cave cutscene won't auto-play — bring the chunk to the cliff edge near the Valley of Despair shrine to summon the First Prince yourself;
- The First Prince drops the Arhat Gold Piece, which is required for the Chapter 2 secret area, the Kingdom of Sahali.

Is the spirit worth it?
Honestly, it's mid:
- Active: a fixed leaping slam — decent damage, awkward accuracy, whiffs at point-blank range;
- Passive: attack bonus at low HP, but only when your health bar is flashing red, and just +10 attack.
It's more a collector's item than a meta pick — but a miss is a miss.
