Spoiler-Free Secret Areas Chapter 4

"Purple Cloud Mountain: Unlock & Full Loot Route — Venom Daoist, Scorpionlord, Daoist Mi"

Published 2026-10-07 3 min read Spoiler level: Medium

TL;DR

Purple Cloud Mountain is Chapter 4's — and the game's — largest secret area, unlocked through the Venom Daoist's two fights (Immobilize him in fight one and break the four arms on his back for the hidden Venomous Armguard). Rewards include the Weaver's Needle vessel, a gourd, a transformation, and piles of materials. Order matters: the Scorpionlord and Daoist Mi are missable inside.

Purple Cloud Mountain is Chapter 4's secret area and the most content-dense hidden map in the game: four shrines, one vessel, two curios, one gourd, two hidden gear pieces, one transformation, two spirits, a medicine formula, and piles of late-game materials. It's also the only secret map with missable content inside — order matters.

Unlock: the Venom Daoist's two fights

Do this late in Chapter 4, when you reach the Jinguang Court (金光苑) area before the chapter finale — the flow is much easier to follow.

Fight 1: upper Webbed Hollow

  1. From the upper level of the Webbed Hollow (盘丝洞), head into the new area;
  2. Grab the meditation spot ahead;
  3. Save, push on, and trigger the Venom Daoist fight.

Hidden gear — the Venomous Armguard: during the fight, Immobilize him, circle behind, and attack the arms on his back — break four of them in total to meet the hidden condition. Finish the fight normally; he leaves and you get the armguard.

Fight 2: near Jinguang Court

Teleport to the Jinguang Court shrine and track him down again. Win, and the mural to Purple Cloud Mountain appears before you — interact to enter.

Full loot route

Four shrines: Petalfall Hamlet → the midway hamlet → the final shrine → the summit.

Petalfall Hamlet (entrance)

  1. From the entrance shrine, cross the bridge; at the fork with the green wisp enemy, turn right up the hill and follow the slope;
  2. Hop up the tree trunks to a side alley for the Sun-crow curio (pairs with the main-quest moon-rabbit curio for +3% damage dealt and reduced damage taken);
  3. Drop down, save at the shrine, then look under the eaves behind you for an elite snake apothecary — absorb its spirit;
  4. Push on for another elite and a vine collectible;
  5. Head back toward the archway, climb the hill to its left for a meditation spot;
  6. Come down and unlock the midway shrine.

Midway shrine (the Scorpionlord)

The Scorpionlord's arena is right above this shrine. Do not enter The Duskveil's area before fighting him, or he disappears permanently for this playthrough.

  1. He won't aggro until you smash his wine jars — loot the building first for medicine;
  2. When ready, break the jars and fight;
  3. Victory grants his craftable equipment and the seven-color gourd (faster drinking — excellent);
  4. Continue along the path to a courtyard holding the second curio (boosts experience gained from kills).

That's the outer loop cleared — head inside.

Inner courtyard (Daoist Mi → the final shrine)

  1. Daoist Mi waits right at the entrance — take his quest first: kill the yellow-robed daoists in the courtyard for a Violet Hail drop, hand it over, win the duel, and earn his transformation. Finish this before The Duskveil;
  2. The archway beside him hides a collectible worm;
  3. Take the alley on the right — the hall straight ahead holds the medicine formula;
  4. Push on to the final shrine; the summit lies beyond.

FAQ

The map never expires. The Scorpionlord and Daoist Mi inside it can be — get the order right via the Chapter 4 missables guide.
Immobilize, dash behind immediately, and lock onto the back arms. One freeze usually isn't enough — accumulate four across multiple Immobilize casts; it doesn't need to be one window.
Strongly recommended. It counters the chapter's final boss and its passive crit stats make it one of the best vessels in the game.
Late Chapter 4, before the finale — your build is ready, and you can clear the Fourth Sister talismans, the Scorpionlord, and Daoist Mi in the same sweep.
